Hal Bidlack is running for the 5th congressional seat in Colorado. Hal is a retired member of the U.S. Air Force, genuine Alexander Hamilton impersonator and someone I have enjoyed listening to ever since I first heard him on Skepticality. He is running as a Democrat in a pretty solidly Republican district. I hope his [...]

This video has been popping up on various atheist sites over the last several weeks. It is of Barack Obama, presumed Democratic presidential candidate, stating his views on religion and it’s role within government.
I agree with his speech wholeheartedly. He should say this stuff more often. He should be proclaiming this from the roof tops, [...]

I just came across this on Bad Astronomy.
Brian Dunning of the Skeptoid podcast and producer of the (hopefully) Skeptologists TV series has put together a 40-minute introduction on critical thinking. It’s called Here Be Dragons and it’s awesome. I think this should be shown in classrooms everywhere. I will be burning a DVD of this and [...]

I have always been fascinated with UFO and aliens and bigfoot and Loch Ness and all those other stories that we humans tell each other are real. And to be honest I bought most of it. Some of the stuff seemed like a stretch at the time but I wanted to believe so badly.
Even after my [...]

FoxNews is reporting that a ‘Missing Pyramid’ has been found by Egyptian archaeologists.
Apparently this pyramid was discovered originally in the mid-1800’s however the desert reclaimed it’s pyramid and was again lost until now. I imagine archaeology to be extremely rewarding and tedious at the same time, like some video games. You slowly and laboriously sift [...]

I have spent the last few days putting my thoughts to digital paper but they weren’t really my thoughts. They were thoughts that I only think are mine but really have come about from reading Susan Jacoby’s Freethinkers, A History of American Secularism. In my first post on the matter I mentioned how profoundly this [...]

This is the 3rd in a series of posts exploring the Past, Present and Future of FreeThought. In this installment I would like to discuss how poorly FreeThought faired in the early parts of the 20th century but I promise to end on a high note. The primary focus will be from the turn of the [...]
